The Dallas Cowboys will be without wide receiver Tavon Austin in this coming Sunday’s showdown with the Washington Redskins on the road, according to team offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, via Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News.

Cowboys OC Scott Linehan said they wouldn't throw out their jet sweep runs in game plan just because WR Tavon Austin won't play this week: “We’re going to try some guys. We’re not throwing it out. Maybe Sunday is a good day to reveal that.”

Austin has played in all of the Cowboys’ first six games of the season, but is dealing with what seems to be a serious groin injury that could reportedly keep him out for multiple weeks.

The Cowboys are having issues with depth on their wide receiver group after waving Dez Bryant goodbye in the offseason. Although Austin hasn’t been a key figure in Dallas’ passing attack, his absence will still have negative repercussions for the Cowboys, who are only 29th in the NFL with just 172.0 passing yards per game and 24th in with 61.9 pass completion percentage.

It’s possible that the Cowboys will place Tavon Austin on the injured reserve, though, that would mean an eight-week absence from the wide receiver.
