For the first time in his five-year NFL career, Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl right guard, Zack Martin, will miss a game. Martin is dealing with a sprained MCL in his left knee and is inactive for Dallas' game in his hometown of Indianapolis versus the Colts.

This is the first game that Martin has missed in his football career. He played every single game during his career at Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis, at Notre Dame, and again in his first four years with the Cowboys.

Martin suffered this injury during last Sunday's win against the Philadelphia Eagles. Martin won't need surgery, only rest to recover and although he was eager to try to get back out on the field for to play in his hometown, the Cowboys decided to play it safe.

Connor Williams, a rookie that Dallas selected in the second round, will fill in for Martin until he can return. Williams played at Texas University.

Football Outsiders ranks Dallas' offensive line as the ninth best in the league, however, that ranking is buoyed by their run blocking, where they rank third overall. They've struggled much more at pass blocking, with an adjusted sack rate of 10.4 percent. They're ranked as the third worst team in protecting the quarterback, or Dak Prescott in their case.

However, Martin himself is Pro Football Focus' top guard. They give him a ranking of 80.2.

At 8-5, Dallas is currently on pace to win the NFC East and the four seed in the NFC playoff picture. After today's game against the Colts they'll host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before heading to New Jersey to finish up the regular season at the Giants.
