The Dallas Cowboys offensive line has been ravaged with injuries over the last couple of weeks that includes All-Pro offensive guard Zack Martin dealing with some knee issues.

Despite that, Martin has been able to return to the practice field on Tuesday for the first time in over a week while he also voiced that he will be ready to go come the season opener against the Carolina Panthers, according to Todd Archer of ESPN.

Pro Bowl right guard Zack Martin said he felt “great,” after going through his first practice since injuring his left knee on Aug. 18 against Cincinnati. Martin already pronounced himself ready to go for the Sept. 9 opener last week. “I don’t really want to go an extended period of time without being out there,” Martin said. “You get in such a routine with training camp and if you’re out a certain amount of time you can lose it pretty quickly, so I wanted to make sure I got out there and get the reps to stay sharp for the opener.”

Martin's progress in his recovery from the injury has likely led to him to voice his availability for the season opener. The Cowboys had avoided a possible significant injury with him after he hurt his knee during the preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals. This could have been a major loss on the offensive line for Dallas as he has proven to be their anchor since entering the league as he has established himself as arguably the best player at his position.

In his first four years in the NFL, he has earned four straight Pro Bowl selections, two First-Team All-Pro nods, and two Second-Team All-Pro selections. This had led to the team quickly inking him to a lucrative extension earlier this offseason on a six-year, $84 million deal that will keep him in Dallas for the next several years.

With Martin looking to be primed to play in the season opener, the focus will now shift over to Pro Bowl center Travis Frederick's health as he's dealing with some neck stingers that were recently diagnosed with a rare disease called Guillain Barre Syndrome. Frederick is still feeling his way around with that serious situation ahead of the 2018 season.
