The Dallas Cowboys have hardly been heard from during the first few days of free agency. But they’re finally starting to make some noise by bringing in not one, but two New England Patriots offensive tackles, Cameron Fleming and LaAdrian Waddle, in for a visit.

They are most likely taking a look at both players to further explore the possibility of moving right tackle La’el Collins back inside to guard next season.

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport:

With the #Cowboys looking at offensive tackles in free agency, it’s clear they are strongly considering moving RT La’El Collins back inside to guard. That might benefit the entire unit.

Collins, 24, spent his first two years in the league playing left guard for the Cowboys. However, Dallas moved him to right tackle last season, where he played and started all 16 games. He didn’t exactly have a great season at right tackle, but he likely deserves a bit of slack considering it was his first year at a new position.

Jonathan Cooper started at left guard for the Cowboys last season but is now a free agent. Perhaps Dallas feels that having Collins back at guard will fully maximize his ability, while the addition of either Fleming or Waddle won’t result in much of a dropoff.

The dominant Cowboys O-line did suffer a slight dip from its incredibly high standards last season, so there could be some merit in shaking things up. With All-Pros Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, and Travis Frederick all still entrenched at their respective positions, moving Collins seems like one of their few realistic options to do so.
