The Dallas Cowboys reached an agreement on a long-term deal with defensive lineman DeMarcus Lawrence earlier this offseason, but that is far from the last contract they are going to have to hand out.

The Cowboys especially have a lot of work to do on the offensive side of the ball, as quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott and wide receiver Amari Cooper all need new deals.

While Elliott's contract seems to be on the back burner right now, there seems to be some urgency on Dallas' end to get deals done with Prescott and Cooper, and Prescott seems to be the top priority.

According to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys have made more progress in talks with Prescott than they have with Cooper, which does not come as much of a surprise.

After all, Prescott plays the most important position, so you would think Dallas would put him ahead of just about anyone else.

Hill adds that a potential extension with Prescott would make the signal-caller the highest-paid player in the history of the franchise, with owner Jerry Jones saying that Prescott's style of play “emboldens me to make a deal with him that puts him here for the long term.”

In addition, Hill says that Cooper's demands in negotiations have been “shockingly high” and notes that he does not think the wideout will end up earning any less than $16 million annually if an agreement is reached.

Both Prescott and Cooper can become free agents next offseason.
