With the Philadelphia Eagles handing Carson Wentz a four-year, $128 million contract extension on Thursday night, eyes are now on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott as potentially the next signal-caller to earn a new deal.

However, it doesn't seem to be all that close to happening.

According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Cowboys and Prescott are not close on contract talks, which does not come as too big of a surprise given the fact that Dallas is also negotiating with running back Ezekiel Elliott and wide receiver Amari Cooper.

The Cowboys also locked up defensive lineman DeMarcus Lawrence earlier this offseason, so it's not like Dallas has not been busy.

Still, with Prescott entering the final year of his deal, you would think this is something both sides would rather get done sooner rather than later.

Prescott is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he threw for 3,885 yards, 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 67.7 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 96.9 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Mississippi State, was originally selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round (135th pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He started all 16 games during his rookie year due to an injury to Tony Romo, finishing with 3,667 yards, 23 touchdowns and four picks and making the Pro Bowl as a result.

Prescott then took a bit of a step back in 2017 before rebounding in 2018 and leading Dallas to just its third playoff win since 1997.
