There had been a whole lot of chatter that the New York Jets could move safety Jamal Adams ahead of the 4 p.m. ET NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, but the Jets ended up keeping him.

The hot topic earlier on Tuesday was that the Dallas Cowboys were making a serious push for Adams and that Adams, who is from Texas, wanted to play for Dallas.

According to David Moore of The Dallas Morning News, the Cowboys offered the Jets a first-round draft pick as well as the option of switching picks on the third day, but New York rebuffed them:

The Jets ultimately deciding to turn down an offer of a first-rounder and a pick swap makes sense, as Adams is already a proven Pro Bowler and is just 24 years old.

Why would New York, a team in pseudo-rebuilding mode, move a terrific young player for a first-round pick?

However, Adams has expressed clear frustration with the Jets this season, and while he never asked for a trade, it was evident that he was tired of the franchise's losing ways.

Expected by many to compete for a playoff berth thanks to a marquee offseason that included additions like Le'Veon Bell and C.J. Mosley, New York has fallen flat this season, as injuries and poor performance across the board have resulted in a 1-6 start.

The Jets chose Adams with the sixth overall pick of the NFL Draft in 2017, and since then, he has developed into one of the league's best safeties, racking up 115 tackles and 3.5 sacks in his Pro Bowl season in 2018.
