The Dallas Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott has had his name involved in headlines this offseason for an off-field incident. Soon, the All-Pro running back may insert his name into headlines for an on the field incident.

According to multiple reports, Elliott may be secretly planning a contract holdout during training camp. Recently, Melvin Gordon was vocal to the Los Angeles Chargers that he plans to hold out until he receives a new deal. Now, Ezekiel Elliott could be joining Gordon in the fight for running backs to receive bigger contracts.

The Cowboys have three of their key offensive players in need of new contracts. First, Dallas wants to sign Dak Prescott to a long-term extension along with Amari Cooper. Apparently, talks between Elliott and Dallas have been basically nonexistent.

That's likely because Prescott and Cooper are both set to hit free agency after 2019, while Elliott still has two years left on his rookie deal. Earlier this offseason, the Cowboys exercised Elliott's fifth-year option.

By doing so, Elliott is due to make $3.8 million in 2019 and nearly $9.1 million in 2020. Nevertheless, Elliott is likely looking for a new contract that exceeds $10 million per season.

In today's NFL, though, teams are wary of giving running backs long-term deals with a hefty price tag. Due to the wear and tear of the position, teams view running backs as an expendable position. However, Elliott could have more leverage than other running backs, since he is the most important piece in the Dallas offense.

So far, the Cowboys haven't budged on a new deal for Elliott, but the Pro Bowl running back could cause Dallas to act quickly if he decides to go through with a holdout during training camp.
