The Dallas Cowboys — currently on the outside looking in of the playoff picture — made a very boneheaded move on Sunday in their Week 15 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams. Franchise quarterback Dak Prescott mistakenly forgot to verbalize “defer” upon winning the opening coin toss. So, the NFL officials awarded the Rams with first possession, and the L.A. club will get possession to start the second half, too.

The Cowboys absolutely cannot allow these mistakes to happen, but it keeps getting worse for America's Team in a year that beckoned high aspirations for Jerry Jones' club. At 6-7 entering their tilt with the Rams, the Cowboys need to muster everything they can to try to win the NFC East over the Philadelphia Eagles, who defeated the Washington Redskins already.
