Top dog or ball hog?

StatMuse, a startup out of San Francisco that currently lets you search for basketball facts and statistics through ordinary “natural” language request, posted this tweet suggesting that Russell Westbrook is going to have a “monster season” as the sole focus of theOklahoma City Thunder‘s offensive attack.

They highlighted that games without Kevin Durant, Westbrook’s numbers have shot up — specifically his scoring, averaging 7.3 more points per game when Durant wasn't active.

Over the past two seasons, Westbrook has been a trouble-double machine. Last season, he piled up 18 triple-doubles, one more than Magic Johnson’s 1988-89 season. Next year, as the main man in OKC, it is highly likely that Russell will break his triple-double mark.

According to reports, Westbrook’s ball-dominant style of play was a source of frustration for Durant, and Westbrook likely played a large role in Durant's decision to leave the Thunder. Now that Durant is out of the picture and assuming that Westbrook stays with the Thunder, there is no doubt we will see a rise in his stats as the number one guy for the franchise's future.
