The Alabama Crimson Tide football program just got a huge boost ahead of the 2022 season, as if Nick Saban and Co. truly needed any more reinforcements. Alabama has received a commitment from star running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who will join the program via the transfer portal after departing Georgia Tech, per Bruce Feldman.

The addition of Gibbs marks another marquee pickup for Saban's Crimson Tide, who also saw former LSU cornerback Eli Ricks join via the transfer portal, too.

As a sophomore this season, Gibbs featured in 12 games for Georgia Tech, recording 143 carries for 746 yards and four touchdowns, in addition to 35 receptions, 465 receiving yards and two touchdown catches.

Gibbs announced his decision to join Alabama with a Twitter video that's sure to fire up Crimson Tide fans.

The addition of Gibbs could prove pivotal in 2022, considering senior running back Brian Robinson Jr. is set to graduate from the program at the end of the year.

Gibbs was a former four-star recruit and the highlight of the Yellow Jackets' 2020 recruiting class. Gibbs was heralded by 247Sports as the 76th overall recruit in the Class of 2020, the eighth-ranked RB recruit in the country, and the 10th best player out of the state of Georgia. The Dalton, Ga. native attended Dalton High School and had received offers from Georgia Tech, Florida, Coastal Carolina, Alabama, and Charlotte throughout his recruitment.

After missing out on the running back in 2020, Saban and Co. have secured him as a junior, and hope he can make an immediate impact in the backfield amid Robinson's forthcoming departure.
