Alabama quarterback Bryce Young posted arguably the best performance of his sophomore campaign in the Crimson Tide’s 41-24 win over the No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs in the 2021 SEC Championship Game.
Although the reigning SEC West champions opened up the contest on a rather sluggish note with a scoreless first quarter, Young simply had his way from the second quarter and on. He anchored six scoring drives, with three of them coming via crucial touchdown passes.
Young sure bolstered his 2021 Heisman Trophy resume after recording 421 passing yards and three passing touchdowns against a team that ranked as the No. 1 defense in all the FBS coming into today.
More so, Young broke a pair of records during this statement showing.
Young’s 421 passing yards are the most in SEC championship game history, surpassing Mac Jones’ 418 passing yards in the 2020 SEC Championship Game against the Florida Gators. Also, his 461 total yards upped former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Jason Campbell’s mark of 431 total yards in the 2004 SEC Championship Game.

Barring any major surprise, Young will at the least be among the finalists for the 2021 Heisman Trophy award. But in the big picture, more challenges sure await him, as Alabama is now set to be among the final four teams selected for the College Football Playoff this season.
In the unpredictable world of college football, Young and Alabama could once again face off with Georgia in January.
