Things got a little heated during the second showdown of the season between the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers.

There were a total of five batters hit by pitch and even a benches clearing confrontation at the top of the eighth when Andrew McCutchen was plunked by Cubs pitcher Keegan Thompson.

McCutchen and Cubs catcher Willson Contreras were exchanging some pleasantries as the Brewers star made the move to take his base, which prompted their teammates to rally behind them in a testy turn of events. Check out the scene with tempers flaring below:

Andrew McCutchen may have gotten heated after getting hit by the pitch, but the Brewers outfielder said he knew it was coming.

“Everybody and their mom knew when I came up to bat, I was going to get hit,” McCutchen said. “(Cubs Catcher Willson) Contreras didn’t even move his glove behind the plate when I got hit.”

Contreras also spoke out on the batters getting hit throughout the game. The Cubs star said he didn't see any ill-intent from the Brewers side, but warned against going too inside with pitches nonetheless.

“I know they’re not trying to, but like I’ve said before, if you don’t have the command to go in, just don’t go because you’re going to get somebody hurt,” Contreras said.

Contreras, who was one of the three Cubs players who got hit, has actually been plunked by the same Brewers 15 times throughout his career. Even manager David Ross spoke out about that after the game.

“Nobody likes to get hit over and over again and by the same group,” Cubs manager David Ross said.

The Cubs picked up the 9-0 victory in a rather tame on-field affair on Saturday. Expect both sides to come out with a little bit more fire for their next contest.
