Anthony Rizzo has been apart of the Chicago Cubs organization since the San Diego Padres traded him back in 2012.

Over the last nine years, he's appeared in the All-Star game three times and was an integral part in winning the World Series in 2016. He's also won the Gold Glove four times and was the recipient of the Silver Slugger award back in 2016.

Over time he has become the face-of-the-franchise and is widely considered one of the best first basemen in the game. His career numbers are impressive with 229 homers, a career .857 OPS, and three top-10 MVP finishes.

In a recent interview, Rizzo announced that he is optimistic about getting an extension and wanting to end his career as a Cub.

“I want to be here for the rest of my career. I want to be here 25 years from now when the Cubs are in the World Series, throwing out first pitches,” he said. “I’ve seen other Cubs greats come back. That motivates me to keep getting better. I’ve obviously expressed it before. I love Chicago. I love the fans. I love the city, I’m happy here. It’s just about doing what’s right and what makes sense.”

The Cubs have moved on from Kyle Schwarber, and there have been recent talks about Kris Bryant getting dealt. Rizzo, alongside Javier Baez, are just a few of the holdovers from that championship team. The main thing for Rizzo is to stay in Chicago and wear that famous Cubs jersey until he retires.

The 31-year-old from Parkland Florida is entering the final year of his seven-year contract and intends to play for many more years.
