Major League Baseball is in the midst of a lockout, which means basically no communication is allowed between front offices and players. Leave it to Chicago Cubs right-hander Marcus Stroman to do the negotiating, then.

Stroman, who is always extremely active on social media, responded to a tweet that suggested the Cubs are in the mix for free-agent shortstop Carlos Correa. That being said, Stro sent his own recruiting pitch to the Puerto Rican superstar:

Correa is one of the hottest names left on the market and because of the lockout, he's unable to sign with any team right now. A report on Tuesday suggested that he and the Cubs have mutual interest, but Chicago is wary about handing the former first overall pick a lengthy deal.

The organization is willing to pay the shortstop his desired annual average, they just don't want to give Correa a 10-year contract. But, if he was smart, taking a two or three-year deal from the Cubs worth a big AAV would be worth it. He could always hit free agency again.

Chicago hasn't made a lot of moves this offseason, most notably signing Stroman and Clint Frazier. But after blowing up their entire core at the deadline last season, it would certainly make sense to bring in a franchise-changing player like Carlos Correa. Clearly, Stroman will do everything imaginable to make it a reality.
