Javier Baez and the Chicago Cubs have turned things around after a slow start to the 2019 MLB season. Now, not only are they a solid team, they are one of the hottest teams in baseball. That trend continued on Tuesday evening with a huge 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in the friendly confines of Wrigley Field.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Joe Maddon turned to his rising superstar. Baez delivered in a big way after sitting out the entire game up to that point with a bruised foot.

For those of you who have not seen Baez come through with a clutch walkoff single, take a look for yourself.

Baez has been playing at an MVP level so far this season. After tonight's performance and walkoff RBI single, Baez now has racked up a .323 batting average to go along with 11 home runs and 32 RBI's. Those numbers show why he has become one of the top stars in the game.

Chicago now holds a 28-18 record to lead the National League Central. They are in for a tough battle with both the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers.

All of that being said, the Cubs feel very confident about the roster that they have put together. They are doing this without some of their most important bullpen arms. As they continue to get healthy, the Cubs are going to get even better.

Expect to see Baez continue playing at an MVP level. Chicago has been patient with him and that patience is paying off in a big way.
