The Dallas Cowboys had a disappointing 2019 season and it was a shocking result with the talent on the field. Mike McCarthy has been brought in to try and turn around the franchise and he has a big task on his hands. This is a team that Super Bowl aspirations, and if they want to do that, they need to have a perfect offseason.

So, who should the team target in free agency? Let's breakdown three free agents America's Team would be smart at taking a long look at.

1. Hunter Henry, Tight End

There is a chance the team could bring back long-revered Cowboys tight end Jason Witten which could cause the team to not try to find an upgrade in free agency and that would be a mistake. Hunter Henry has dealt with a lot of injuries throughout his career which is a concern, but when he is healthy he is a good player.

In 12 games during 2019, Henry finished with 55 receptions for 652 yards and five touchdowns. Because of the injury issues, the team could also get a deal with a contract. Signing Henry to a long term deal with the injury issues could be a problem, but a one- or two-year deal would make a lot of sense.

2. Anthony Harris, Strong Safety

Anthony Harris is probably going to cost a lot, which could take the Cowboys out of the running, but if they have the money this is a guy they need to sign. The Cowboys look to be losing Jeff Heath in free agency, but they wouldn't lose a beat with Harris coming in.

Harris didn't get as much credit as he probably deserved with the Vikings because of all the big names on the defense. Harris was an undrafted free agent in 2015 out of Virginia but he has grown into one of the best safeties in football. He finished the 2019 season with 60 tackles and six interceptions.

3. Trae Waynes, Cornerback

The Cowboys also have a big need at cornerback and Trae Waynes could be a perfect fit. Waynes never lived up to his expectations with the Vikings, but he is still a solid cornerback that is a clear upgrade. Being a number one cornerback isn't his strength, but if he can be a second or third cornerback with the Cowboys, that is perfect for him.

If the Cowboys can improve their back end of the defense, that should bode well for their chances next season.
