Sunday, May 15 will be a very busy day for Dallas sports fans. The Mavericks and Stars are both looking to advance in the playoffs after saving their series in their respective Game 6 contests at American Airlines Center. Now, they will play their do-or-die games on the same day.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, today is the first time ever that two teams from the same city each play in a Game 7.

The Mavericks, the fourth seed in the Western Conference, are on the road to face the Phoenix Suns. They are coming off their first series win in the NBA playoffs in over a decade and are looking to advance to the conference finals. Young superstar Luka Doncic is leading a great effort against one of the best teams in the league and is looking to upset the Suns' hopes of defending their conference title. Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie will need to help Doncic overcome the mighty Suns.

The Stars, meanwhile, are looking to advance past the first round of the NHL playoffs and avenge their loss in the 2019-20 Stanley Cup Finals. They face the Calgary Flames, the top team from the Pacific Division which owns the third-best record in the Western Conference. All-Star Joe Pavelski leads the team with five points in the postseason and is looking to lead the Stars. He will need the help of captain Jamie Benn and the veteran Stars team to get past Johnny Gaudreau and the Flames.

The Maverick and Stars are both seeking upset wins. In a weekend that features several Game 7s in both the NBA and NHL playoffs, Dallas has two teams representing.
