The Portland Trail Blazers have quickly found themselves in the conversation as a possible landing spot for Carmelo Anthony‘s services.

Much of this has surrounded All-Star point guard Damian Lillard stating that Anthony would be willing to waive his no-trade clause that would allow for him to be moved to the Trail Blazers. However, Lillard has backtracked on that statement as he revealed that the 33-year-old didn't exactly tell him he would do that.

“No, he didn't say that exactly. I think he was respectful in getting back to me. Kind of putting me up to speed of what was going on. I think if there was no interest, there would be no response. Like I said, he didn't come right out of his mouth and saw that.”

It is clear that Anthony still desires a trade to either the Houston Rockets or Cleveland Cavaliers first before the Trail Blazers. That said, he at least sounds like he would consider a move to Portland if both Cleveland and Houston become unrealistic scenarios.

There could be much development on that front with development that Kyrie Irving is desiring a trade from the Cavaliers. It could open the door to a multi-team deal to move both superstars. However, all of that would be dependent on Cleveland's willingness to comply with Irving's request.

It is still a complex situation surrounding Anthony's future in New York, but Portland looks like they remain in the picture as a possibility.
