He may have led the Portland Trail Blazers last season to a playoff run despite a lot of people not expecting them to do so, but Damian Lillard is not satisfied with that at all.

The two-time All-Star already has a personal goal set for himself and knows what it takes to achieve it.

With the MVP winners of the past three years playing alongside each other now, it gives Lillard a better chance of taking home the trophy after the regular season since they almost certainly cancel each other's votes. But with other players in the MVP discussion as well like Anthony DavisJames Harden, Russell Westbrook, and LeBron James among others, there will be more than enough competition for him.

Stats will be the biggest criteria in naming the winner. With Lillard's 25.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game last season proving to be insufficient for him to win the MVP, he'll need to produce even better numbers to win it this year. He also needs to make sure the Blazers make it to the playoffs again, even with a tougher Western Conference.

The good news for him is that he already appears to be in mid-season form with his preseason performances. In fact, Weber State product already has a believer that he'll be named MVP this year in Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

Most of the past winners have led their teams to at least a Conference Finals appearance, and if Lillard wants his goal to be attained this year, he'll have to play his best basketball, a season for the ages, and lead his team to greater success. It will be a very hard task to complete, but given his skills and belief in himself, it's definitely not impossible.
