If you haven't heard, YouTuber Jake Paul is becoming more and more of a thing now–and not just as an influencer. With a 3-0-0 boxing record (all KO's), Paul has backed up his big name and talk with his performance in the ring, even if the opponents were–in a word–subpar.

But if you've been paying attention, Jake and his brother Logan have made their names on pushing peoples' buttons, and that hasn't changed with Jake's transition into combat sports. While that model has paid dividends so far, it has also made them a few enemies on their way to the top. In Paul's case, a newer enemy just came out of the woodwork, and might just be his biggest one to date: Daniel Cormier.

Via Marc Raimondi of ESPN, Cormier challenged Paul to an MMA fight during his appearance on DC & Helwani.

“I'm going to torture him. I'm going to hurt him. I don't want to box him. I don't want to fight in a limited skill set of rules. If you really want to fight me, fight me in a mixed martial arts competition,” Daniel Cormier said.

“I'm going to rip his face apart. I'm going to hurt the kid. I'm will teach these kids not to continue to do this with people like me — athletes. Ariel, I will hurt this kid. … I'm gonna choke him, I'm gonna elbow him. I'm gonna hurt him.”

These quotes come following the altercation Cormier and Paul had at UFC 261, which stemmed from its own thread of Twitter beef. The beef began when Cormier, a former MMA champion turned-announcer and commentator, took issue with the words Paul had for a few of his colleagues. The two engaged in some colorful trash talk, which came to a head at UFC 261when Cormier left the announcer's booth to confront Paul in person.

To elaborate on his confrontation with Jake Paul, as well as his latest words, Daniel Cormier emphasized that he won't let the boxer tarnish his legacy and use his name to get more popularity.

“My name will not be used as a springboard. I love my legacy and I will protect my legacy. And if protecting my legacy means I gotta slap this kid upside his head, that's what I'll do.”

Now, it should be noted that like Ben Askren, Cormier is well into retirement and has a few years in age over the younger Paul. But if both sides are willing to play ball, we might have just found Paul's next big matchup.
