UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has made it clear that he wants a boxing match with Canelo Alvarez. Many people have spoken out about the proposed match, including Daniel Cormier, and the reactions have been very interesting so far.

Daniel Cormier thinks the boxing match is very different from Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather. The UFC champion would be facing someone very dangerous in Canelo Alvarez.

“Kamaru’s my brother. I love him to death, and I would love for him to get the bag,” former UFC champion Daniel Cormier said on DC & RC. “But the reality is this: You cannot fight Canelo Alvarez. And let me tell you one reason: The main reason you can’t fight Canelo [is that] Canelo is a Mexican fighter with a ton of pride. He ain’t gonna carry him like many people believe Floyd Mayweather did for Conor McGregor. Canelo will try to hurt you.”

Many felt like Floyd Mayweather was holding back when he faced the UFC's Conor McGregor in a boxing match. Daniel Cormier believes Kamaru Usman will not have that should he fight Canelo Alvarez.

Kamaru Usman is currently expected to face Leon Edwards in July after the Englishman has been told he is next by UFC president Dana White. A fight with Canelo Alvarez is currently not very realistic with his next title defense currently in the works.

Canelo Alvarez has expressed a little bit of interest in the boxing match but he appears more interested in boosting his legacy. Kamaru Usman will be focused on defending his UFC welterweight title when the time comes.
