The regular season is coming to a close, and that means it’s time as always for Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey to voice his opinions on the race for the MVP Award.

On Saturday, Morey tweeted that he believes that basketball as a whole has lost its focus on winning. He pointed to the 2017 MVP race as his primary example of that argument.

With only a few games of regular season play remaining, Houston is currently sitting 53-26. Out of the teams with an MVP candidate in the running, it’s the pinnacle of team success, and that record serves as the backbone of Morey’s defense of James Harden’s campaign for MVP. Harden is currently fighting for the spot against Russell Westbrook, who doesn’t come close in team wins with his 45-34 record with the Thunder.

The Rockets have blasted Westbrook throughout the last month, pointing out that winning is what’s supposed to matter the most. But Morey’s latest tweet seems to take on a different tone — one of defeat.
