It has been nearly a decade since the NBA last had a team play in Seattle following the departure of the Seattle Supersonics, who are now the Oklahoma City Thunder.

However, there has been continuous chatter over the years that Seattle would eventually get another team. According to Sean Quinton of the Seattle Times, former NBA commissioner David Stern earlier this week aired his strong belief that the city will have a franchise one day in the future.

Ultimately, Stern said Seattle “is a town that deserves to have a team — no question about it.”

There have been numerous rumors that the NBA would one day return back to Seattle. This latest vocal push comes just a few month after Oak View Group CEO and founder Tim Leiweke voiced that his group is hoping to renovate Seattle's KeyArena in hopes of landing an NBA team.

Despite how things panned with the Thunder leaving, there is still a highly passionate fan base in the city of Seattle. The loss of the Supersonics has still been a huge topic of conversation around the area and the desire to get another NBA franchise is still strong as ever.

All in all, it could be a matter of time before Seattle is finally gets their wish to once again be the home of an NBA team.
