Heading into the lottery and before workouts have been conducted, Kansas swingman Josh Jackson was everyone’s favorite to be included in the top three overall selections come NBA Draft in June.

A lot of teams were high on his potential to become a Kawhi Leonard-type of player with his length, defensive acumen, and two-way potential. However, as the scouts give a deeper look into each prospects, the rankings change with names moving up and down the board.

This time, one draft hopeful that has climbed many boards is Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox. Unfortunately, his rise came at the expense of Jackson’s slide in the rankings.

As it turns out, teams have become enamoured with the skillset Fox possesses. The shifty guard is showing flashes of becoming another John Wall — who’s also from Kentucky, and the top lottery teams’ need for a franchise changing point guard makes him a more attracting piece than Jackson.

Outside of the basketball factors, Jackson’s involvement in an offcourt mishap, leading to him undergoing anger management sessions, affected the fall of his draft stock.

With only a few weeks left before the NBA Draft, all hopes aren’t lost on both players ending up among the top picks of 2017. The talent is there, but we’ve seen stranger things happen in the draft.
