With the 2017 NBA Draft less than two weeks away, teams are now becoming more busy ahead of it as they continue to workout the players on their radar. One of them are the Los Angeles Lakers, who recently worked out De’Aaron Fox.

As expected, the team is still undecided on who to choose, and according to Fox, when speaking to reporters, they have not given him any assurance about bringing him in, like other teams who have shown interest in him.

“I haven’t gotten assurances from anyone, you never know what can happen on draft night.”

Although the popular choice for the Lakers is Lonzo Ball, they were apparently underwhelmed with what they saw in him during his workout and even said that they think he was not in shape during the session. That leaves the door open for Fox to move up the ladder and be taken as high as second.  In his lone season in Kentucky, the 19-year-old impressed with his ability to run the offense as well as score when needed. He averaged 16.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, while being the go-to-guy for them in late-game situations.

Should the Lakers ultimately select him, it could turn out to be an early surprise in the draft and it will be interesting to see how he plays alongside D’Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson in their backcourt. One thing that’s certain at this point is Fox has a chance to play for one of the NBA’s most storied franchises, and it may all boil down to his fit in their system and how impressed the team is after his workout.
