It’s been nearly three years since the release of Deltarune Chapter 1. But just recently, Deltarune Chapter 2 launched for both PC and Mac. Just like the first chapter, Undertale creator Toby Fox released Deltarune Chapter 2 free of charge.

Deltarune fans are ready to spend a few dollars on Chapter 2, and such is the anticipation for the game. However, Toby Fox was in a very empathetic mood and explained his decision to make Deltarune Chapter 2 free. He acknowledges that the world has been going through tough times recently. This means that it’s been difficult for indie game developers in these trying times and Toby knows what that’s like. What he wants for his players is to support other indie devs. You can get the game free on Steam and itch.io. However, if players truly still want to support Toby, then they can purchase Deltarune’s soundtrack from Bandcamp.

What Toby Fox initially had planned out for Deltarune was to release all the next chapters at once. He ended up realizing that it’ll be difficult for both players and developers to go a long time without the game. This led to his decision to release Chapter 2 first followed by Chapters 3-5 in the next release.

Chapters 3-5 will come with a price tag once Toby Fox decides to launch them. As of right now, he is still contemplating how much the following chapters will cost. However, he does mention that the price tag will include prices for Chapters 1 and 2. The first two chapters may be free to play, but you’ll eventually have to pay for them down the road. Of course, you don’t have to pay for the first two chapters if you aren’t planning on purchasing the other chapters. Deltarune Chapter 2 is out for PC and Mac today, while the simultaneous release of Chapters 3-5 are yet to be announced.
