DeMar DeRozan has saved his best games for when it counts the most, becoming the first Toronto Raptors player with back-to-back 40-point games since Vince Carter did it in the 2001. DeRozan poured in a game-high 40 points against the Miami Heat on Thursday night, and has now led the Raptors to four straight wins down the stretch. The performance against Miami comes at the heels of a Tuesday night barnburner, where he tallied 42 points against the Chicago Bulls in a 122-120 overtime win.

The uber-athletic slasher did his damage early and often, getting off to a 6-of-7 start from the field and a 14-point first quarter. He shot 14-of-25 from the field and a smooth 13-of-14 from the stripe, collecting six rebounds, and dishing out three assists in his 36 minutes on the floor.

DeRozan has put this team on his shoulders the past two games, managing a flamethrower of a fourth quarter and overtime period over the Bulls after Serge Ibaka was ejected in the third quarter. His 40-point night was resemblant of his Tuesday night outing, making tough shot after tough shot and putting his mastery of the mid-range game in full display.

The 6-foot-7 shooting guard is having the best season of his career, averaging 27 points per game to go with 5.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists through 64 games this year. Keeping company with Carter is also putting his name up there as one of the best to ever play for the franchise.
