DeMarcus Cousins is known for clashing with his coaches, but that wasn't the case with Mike Malone. The former Sacramento Kings head coach was let go after starting the 2014-15 season with a mediocre 11-13 record. Cousins was pissed at the time.

That wasn't the case when George Karl got the boot recently. From the time Karl was hired to run the Kings, Cousins was skeptical, especially when rumors came out that he'd tried to convince general manager Vlade Divac to trade Boogie.

Earlier today, Cousins wondered how this season would've gone differently had Malone stayed with the franchise. In his mind, the 10-year playoff drought for the franchise would've come to an end.

“We would have been a playoff team,” Cousins said, via Sports 1140 KHTK's Carmichael Dave Thursday. “The thing about that is, it was one goal in my mind at the end of the day: winning games. And the way that team was structured, the way the foundation was set for that team, that collective group, I believe it was done the right way. Of course, it didn't show on paper, but we were taking the right steps. It's never gonna happen overnight.”

Sacramento went 33-49 this season while the 8th seeded Houston Rockets were 41-41, so they would've had to win eight more games to at least tie for the final spot.

Hopefully, the Kings can stick with their next coach longer than a year or so. In Cousins' relatively young career, he'll be playing for his sixth head coach in 2016-17 season.
