DeMarcus Cousins has made $89,548,986 through NBA contracts since entering the league back in 2010, per Spotrac. Boogie was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the fifth overall pick.

The first contract Cousins signed with the Kings was his rookie deal. It was a two-year contract worth $7 million. DeMarcus made $3,374,640 as a rookie while averaging 14.1 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

During his second season, DeMarcus Cousins increased his scoring average to 18.1 points. He made $2,919,872 and averaged a double-double by grabbing 11.0 boards per game to go along with his 18.1 points. It was a no brainer for the Kings to exercise their $3.8 million option on Cousins for the 2012-13 campaign.

After averaging 17.1 points and 9.9 rebounds in his third year in the league, Cousins signed a four-year, $65.6 million maximum rookie-scale extension with the Kings before the start of the 2013-14 season. The contract was set to kick in during the 2014-15 campaign. Cousins averaged 24.1 points and 12.7 rebounds in 2014-15 and made his first All-Star team. He also earned $14,746,000 that year.

After signing that extension with the Kings, though, DeMarcus Cousins began acting out and lost a lot of money because of his actions. The All-Star big man had to forfeit $44,700 for punching Patrick Beverley in the stomach, was fined $20,000 for verbal abuse of an official, lost $114,109 for conduct detrimental to the Kings and fined another $50,000 for a verbal tirade against a reporter and $25,000 for making an inappropriate statement and gesture while leaving the court after an ejection.

Sacramento had enough of Cousins' antics and traded him to the New Orleans Pelicans in February of 2017. During the 2017-18 season, DeMarcus made $18,063,850 and was playing the best basketball of his career alongside Anthony Davis. Unfortunately, the Alabama native tore his Achilles and was lost for the season.

Since that time, DeMarcus Cousins hasn't caught a break. He missed out on a max contract because of his Achilles tear and was forced to sign a one-year, $5.34 million free-agent deal with the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2018. Cousins appeared in 30 games for the Dubs after recovering from his injury. He averaged 16.3 points and 8.2 rebounds.

However, the injury bug wouldn't leave Cousins alone. He tore his quad against the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the 2019 playoffs. He did return for the Finals but was never able to get it going. Golden State lost to the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 Finals in six games.

In the summer of 2019, DeMarcus Cousins signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, who had traded for Anthony Davis, giving LeBron James the superstar he needed to win in the West. Boogie was excited to reunite with Davis and play with LeBron.

Unfortunately, Cousins tore his ACL during a pick-up game in Las Vegas and never suited up for the Lakers. The team waived him in February.

DeMarcus, 29, has career NBA averages of 21.2 points, 10.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists. Hopefully, a team gives him another chance whenever the 2020 offseason period begins.
