It's been no secret that Dennis Rodman is a good friend of the supreme leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un. Their friendship may seem odd, given the reputation both of them have, and that they have always been controversial, but they seem to be fond of each other, with the former NBA player accepting Kim Jong-un's invitation to visit his country a couple of times already.

Rodman was also interviewed recently by Dujour, where he only had good words to say about the chairman of the Worker's Party of Korea. He also gave him a lot of credit for transforming North Korea to the “24th-century country” that they are now.

“They work very hard and they take pride in the simple things in life. Whatever their job is, they do it to the best of their ability. I’m not sure anyone there knows how to be lazy, they have a lot of focus. The citizens there are very kind … but it’s like you’d think these people have a spell on them because all they talk about is him [Kim Jong-un.] I mean it’s insane. I am so intrigued about how they live their lives through this guy … and he is only, like, 33, 34 years old. He is changing North Korea so much it is really becoming a 24th-century country now — it’s more like they took down the Flintstone Age and put in the Jetsons. Out with the old, in with the new.”

While Kim Jong-un's reputation precedes himself, Rodman's statement does make some sense as their heritage rights and government integrity have both increased since he assumed office, per Heritage.org. New economic measures were also introduced to the country back in 2013, while some laws were based on what China is doing.

Many may not have thought that Rodman and Kim Jong-un would have the kind of relationship they have now, but with the comments the five-time NBA champion made for him, it can be expected that he will have more visits to North Korea in the future to spend time with his good friend.
