No one’s shying away from taking shots at Kevin Durant these days.

Durant admitted that he knew there was going to be some criticism coming his way for making the move to the Golden State Warriors. It’s not going to end any time soon.

Toronto Raptors star DeMar DeRozan is the latest to speak up, firing this quote which appears to throw shade at KD’s decision.

DeRozan can have whatever opinion he wants, but let’s not act like he was in a similar situation to Durant.

DeRozan re-signed with the Raptors for five years and $139 million, making him one of the highest paid players in NBA history. A fringe All-Star like DeRozan is never going to pass up taking advantage of an offer like that. After signing up for five more years in Toronto, it’s easy to say you were never going anywhere. He won't have to back that statement up until 2021.

Toronto is, by all accounts, a great city and one that NBA players in particular enjoy. DeRozan's deal with the Raptors was a no-brainer and made sense for both sides. You just can’t compare it to Durant’s decision.

The phrasing by DeRozan isn't exactly perfect either. Durant may have ran, but not exactly because things got “tough.” Clearly, there were many factors involved in Durant's decision, some probably beyond basketball. Even the basketball reasons may have been from beyond this season or last. The Warriors with KD aren't just going to try to be the best team next season, but the best team of all-time.

Either way, Durant will continue to be villainized my many over this decision. It might take 74 wins and a ring to finally shut everyone up.
