Although the Utah Jazz got swept in the second round of the playoffs, their season can still be considered a successful one as it was the first time they made the postseason in five years.

One of their bright spots was veteran big man Derrick Favors, who had a decent campaign, with averages of 9.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. However, with Gordon Hayward and George Hill both slated to become free agents this summer, his future might not be secure in Salt Lake City anymore because of financial concerns, and the Jazz needing to make some moves to have cap flexibility.

The 25-year-old Georgia Tech product has made it clear he wants to continue playing for the Jazz, but also said, via Tony Jones of The Salt Lake Tribune, that he is ready to play for whichever team he ends up with.

“Everyone knows I love Utah, and I love playing for the Jazz, But I have to prepare myself this offseason to have a great year, whatever city I'm in.”

Favors is entering the final year of his contract and will also become a free agent next year. If the Jazz won't be able to pay him in free agency, they might be forced to package him in a deal to make sure they get something in return for his services.

It remains to be seen how things will unfold for the Jazz come summertime, but if Favors can play at an even higher level at the start of next season, he will leave his team's front office with difficult decision to make of whether to re-sign him or risk seeing him walk away once his contract is over.
