New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose has suffered a torn meniscus and will miss the remainder of the season.

The news caps off what has been a tough season for the Knicks, who will miss the playoffs once again.

Rose was one of their big seasons this offseason and in his first season with the Knicks, he posted averages of 18.0 points, 4.4 assists and 47.1 percent shooting in 32.5 minutes per game. He appeared in 64 games, two less than last season. His scoring average was his most since the 2011-12 season, although he never truly looked quite like his old MVP self.

Rose famously said he was going to seek a max contract this summer, which will now surely not be happening. It's unknown yet exactly how serious this injury is or what is recovery time will be, but it's always scary when the injury-plagued Rose suffers another set back, especially concerning his knees.
