Fans will get a retelling of the tale of the Dark Wanderer, as Diablo II Resurrected releases sometime this year. Not only on the PC, but on consoles as well with cross-platform play enabled.

DIABLO II RESURRECTED RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 23, 2021

Fans consider Diablo II as the best in the series. Now, we're going to have a new version of the game updated for modern devices. After 20 years, new and old fans alike will get to experience Diablo II in full HD. The bad news is, we only know that the game will be released on September 23, 2021, on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and the Nintendo Switch.

Hopefully, Diablo II Resurrected will be a good HD remaster. We still remember how Blizzard ruined the Warcraft III: Reforged HD remaster with unnecessary changes, leaving the game in a state worse than the original. Even worse, they made it impossible to play the old Warcraft III game legitimately. Blizzard had the poorly-done HD remaster completely replace the superior version on Blizzard's platform. It's so bad that Polygon called the remaster “a relic ruined by upgrades.”

The good news is that Diablo II Resurrected seems to be in good hands. With the poor reception received by Warcraft III: Reforged, Blizzard decided to go with a different team for this remake. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 remaster creators Vicarious Visions worked on the game, something we reported on last month. With their success in bringing Tony Hawk back to its former glory, Vicarious Visions may just do the same for Diablo II Resurrected.

Still, this is just one of three exciting news from Blizzconline about the Diablo franchise. More details on Diablo IV, including a trailer for the rogue class, revealed more details about the upcoming new game. We also got news for the mobile game Diablo Immortal, which Blizzard swears will be a good time.
