Back when they were both still highly-rated prospects, Marlins star Jazz Chisholm and Diamondbacks' hurler Zac Gallen were actually traded for one another. They've since developed into solid big-leaguers, but it appears neither has forgotten the trade that set them on their current paths.

Last season, Chisholm admitted how badly he wanted to hit a home run off of Gallen. After getting his chance on Monday night, and failing miserably, it was the Diamondbacks' pitcher who got the last laugh. Gallen sat Chisholm down in all three at-bats on Monday and even broke two of his bats.

“I'm not scared of anybody,” said the Diamondbacks' pitcher, via Bally Sports Arizona. “I gave him 97 [MPH] and said, ‘here, see what you can do with it.' Not much.”

Yeah, Chisholm might just need some ice to go along with that burn. Gallen has now gotten the upper hand both on and off the baseball field, silencing the young Marlin in the batter's box and in the post-game interview.

Gallen has enjoyed a sensational season in 2022. The 26-year-old is 1-0 with a 1.27 ERA, 19 strikeouts, and a 0.703 WHIP across 21.1 innings in 4 starts. He threw 6.1 innings against the Marlins on Monday, earning his first win of the year while striking out 5 batters and surrendering 2 runs. It was his longest outing of the year for the Diamondbacks, and he managed to throw 102 pitches, his first time throwing over 100 since his final start of 2021.

Chisholm will hope to have plenty more opportunities to rewrite the narrative on this battle, but as of now it's clear that Gallen holds the edge between the two.
