Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock led his team to a win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday and some people are ready to put him in Canton, Ohio. Since Peyton Manning decided to hang it up, the Broncos have been looking for their next franchise quarterback, and fans seem ready to latch onto anything that is a glimpse of hope, and Lock was the latest on Sunday.

Lock led the Broncos to the victory, which is the most important thing, but his stat line isn't all that impressive. He completed 18 of his 28 passes for 134 yards, which resulted in two touchdowns and one interception.

He came out hot in the first quarter helping to score 14 points, but during the last three quarters, the team only managed nine points.

After the game, Broncos head coach Vic Fangio seemed to have the perfect quote that summed up the rookie's play.

“I think it was a good start for him,” Fangio said, via the Broncos’ team website. “Did we light up the scoreboard? No. Did we get a ton of first downs? No. I think we only had 11 first downs or something like that. We got some short fields, which helped us get some points, but I think there’s promise there. I really do. I’m just not ready to put him in Canton yet. I think it was a great start for him, something that he can build upon because obviously we didn’t light up the scoreboard or have a ton of yards and first downs, but I think in many, many ways it’s probably a good way for him to start [because] of the fact that we got the win and there’s still a lot of room for improvement.”

The big question for Lock is how can his play continue going forward? As he puts more play on tape defenses are going to be able to attack his weaknesses. At that point, he is going to need to find a way around it and until we see how he reacts, a definitive judgment can't be made.

The Broncos' next two games are against the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs and the offense is going to need to put up points if they want to stay in those games and pull off upsets. Those matchups will be a great test to see where Lock is currently at in his development.

It was a good start for Lock in game one, and he very well could turn into a good quarterback long-term for the Broncos, but let's pump the brakes on him being the franchise savior just yet.
