The sporting world lost one of the most iconic legends in the realm of international football on Wednesday, as the great Diego Maradona passed away due to cardiac arrest. There now appears to be some controversy surrounding the death of the Argentine, with his lawyer and agent, Matias Morla, demanding for an investigation on the ambulance response team.

This report comes via Adriana Garcia of ESPN:

In a statement posted on social media, Morla said that according to the report made by the San Isidro district attorney's office, the ambulance took “more than half an hour” to arrive to the house, which he called “criminal idiocy” and called for action.

As it appears, Morla is putting some blame on the response team in the death of Maradona. Presumably, Morla believes that the footballing legend could have possibly survived the heart attack had there been a prompter response from the emergency team.

“This fact cannot be overlooked and I'm going to ask for an investigation to look into it until the end,” Morla added.

On Thursday, videos of Maradona's procession in the streets of Buenos Aires made its rounds on social media. Thousands of fans also paid tribute to the remains of the national icon, whose wake was open to the public in the presidential palace.

It was a sad day for the world of sports, and now this development has taken a turn for the worse with Maradona's lawyer/agent demanding for a full-blown investigation on the negligence of the ambulance response team.
