Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki has managed to have a healthy career with the Texas team. Now at 37, the old power forward is nearing the expiration of his contract in the summer of 2017.

Luckily for the league, Nowitzki has no intention of hanging up his jersey. He says he feels as though he can handle more high level basketball, even if it means playing at age 40.

“Everyday, I work with our physiotherapists and weight trainers,” says Nowitzki, giving insight to his health. “It's about finding the right mix between intensity and rest. I do pilates and yoga, that helps me a lot.”

One thing's for sure is most Mavericks fans can't even imagine the team without him. Who knows? Maybe he will retire at the age of 41 to go out in style by leaving as old as the number on his jersey.

Either way, it will be a sad day for the NBA.
