Dirk Nowitzki isn't sure quite yet when he'll call it quits.

The Dallas Mavericks rewarded the best player to ever wear their uniform with a two-year, $50 million deal this summer. Dallas couldn't do anything else with the money so what better way to reward the services of a player like Dirk?

The contract has two years left but Dirk isn't using that timeline to dictate when he will retire.

Via EuroHoops.net:

“I always said I wanted to kind of take it year-by-year. Signing a two-year deal doesn’t mean I necessarily have to play those two years. I think we’ll see how next year goes, how the body responds and then we’ll make that decision again next year,” Nowitzki said. “But obviously, I would love to play the next two years and then just see how it goes.”

Dirk is keeping his options open.

Dallas fans are hoping that the two-year deal means they get at least two more years of Dirk, but you never know what could happen. Injuries or the team really dropping off could push Dirk closer toward retiring after this season, or it could go the other way.

Nowitzki's game is made for an aging player. Last season, he averaged 18.3 points in 31.5 minutes per game. He not only can still help a team, but he can still be one of its best players. Dallas isn't interested in losing him anytime soon.
