L.A. Clippers head coach Doc Rivers spoke with the league office about his and his son, Austin Rivers‘ ejections during Friday night's game against the Houston Rockets.

The tenured coach spoke with Kiki VanDeWeghe, the NBA’s executive vice president of basketball operations in charge of handing out punishment for such violations. Neither father nor son were suspended or fined for their separate incidents within the same game and were allowed to be active for Saturday night's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 55-year-old coach was ejected for asking for an explanation for call in which forward Marreese Speights scored and was whistled for a foul afterward.

“No, they didn’t think …” Rivers told Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times. “Listen, that’s all I’m going to say. Obviously they didn’t think it was an issue either way.”

Austin Rivers was ejected from the Rockets game for what the officials told the media was the use of “profanity” and for making “contact with” an official.

“They didn’t even think that was an issue,” Doc Rivers said about Austin’s ejection.

The Clippers have struggled mightily and have now dropped six games in a row since Blake Griffin underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies in his knee — sitting in seventh place in the Western Conference after a stellar start to the season.
