With the Max Scherzer deal potentially falling through and Mad Max headed to the San Diego Padres, the Dodgers aren't taking any chances and are adding Danny Duffy to the fold to help bolster their rotation, especially with questions swirling regarding the status of Trevor Bauer.
Duffy is currently on the IL but was a likely trade candidate and is having a solid year.
Duffy is currently on the injured list with a flexor strain but expected to return. He has no-trade protection he’s expected to waive. Long a starter, he could wind up pitching in a high-leverage, multi-inning relief spot for the Dodgers. Duffy is a free agent this winter.

So, it isn't Max Scherzer or Jose Berrios, although don't rule out some crazy circumstance where the Dodgers add another pitcher to the fold. The return headed back to the Royals is still up in the air but it will be a player or players to be named later.
One more time: Kansas City will be getting players to be named later for from the Dodgers for Danny Duffy. They’ll have a few months to consider the ones on the list from the Dodgers and can choose from it.

The Dodgers couldn't afford to take any chances and now they have appeared to land Duffy, and surely more moves are on the way for the defending World Series Champions. It is going to be a bust 24 hours before the deadline passes and Scherzer and Kris Bryant are still out there to be had.
Stay tuned, the MLB trade deadline continues to move at a rapid pace.
