The Los Angeles Dodgers' hopes of a title repeat sustained a huge blow when MVP candidate Max Muncy sustained an elbow injury during the end of the regular season. Muncy has since spent the entirety of the- now-extended due to the MLB lockout- offseason attempting to recover from the torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow. In an interview with David Vassegh of Dodger Talk on AM 570. Muncy provided a critical injury update on his elbow, as reported by MLB Trade Rumors.

“I’m getting more time to get healthy,” says Muncy in reference to the ongoing MLB lockout, “but I’m not able to work with my guys on the [Dodgers’] staff. I can’t even talk to them, really. I’d probably be getting better treatment if I was getting worked on by them, but that’s just the unfortunate circumstances. It does give me a chance to get healthy, but I’m not getting the full extent of what I could be getting. I think even before the lockout, it was looking like I was going to be possibly ready for Opening Day. I think we’re still on that track right now.”

Dodgers star Max Muncy said that he's receiving more time to get healthy, which can always be considered a good sign. However, Muncy also said that the MLB lockout has prevented him from getting the best possible treatment he could be getting from the team doctors, who he is prohibited from speaking to.

Muncy said he still believes he's on track to return for Opening Day, whenever the MLB lockout allows that to happen. The Dodgers star enjoyed one of the better years of his career, as he slugged a career-high 36 homers with 95 runs scored, 94 RBI, and 83 walks.
