2020 National League MVP and 2021 World Series champion Freddie Freeman continued his hot start to the 2022 Major League Baseball season on Saturday afternoon when Freeman impressed with Freeman's first three double game since 2018 in a 7-0 win over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

Freeman, who signed a six-year, $162 million contract as a free agent this winter with the 2020 World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, spent his entire decade-plus career with the Atlanta Braves, has picked off right from where he left off last October where Freeman played a pivotal role in the Braves winning their first World Series title since 1995. 

“When the Dodgers and other teams expressed interest and wanted to communicate, to want to get me here, that was huge for me,” Freeman said back in March. “Things just started moving quicker when the (Olson) deal went down.”

Entering Saturday's doubleheader vs. Chicago, Freeman is slashing an impressive batting line of .299/.386/.483 with three home runs, 12 RBIs, and 15 runs through his first 23 career games as a member of the Dodgers.

Freeman finished the afternoon matinee with three hits (all doubles obviously) in four plate appearances. Freeman also added two runs to his performance, as the Dodgers now sit at 17-7 on the young season –– half a game ahead of the hungry San Diego Padres in the NL West division.

Adding a proven leader and playoff performer in the heart of their order is the kind of move the Dodgers were hoping to make this winter, as the Dodgers are still on the hunt for their first title in a non-covid-shortened season in over three decades.
