Through the first two games of the NFL preseason, Miami Dolphins veteran running back Frank Gore has been notably absent from the playing field as the team has elected to hold him out.

However, head coach Adam Gase has revealed that Gore has been on him about getting on the field in some capacity in the preseason, according to Adam H. Beasley of The Miami Herald.

“Do I need to see him? I don’t,” Gase said. “[But] he’s driving me insane. … We’ll see how the goes. If I say right no, he’ll be in my office in five minutes. I know that he wants to go out there and do something. I think he’s tired of standing on the sideline.”

Although Gase has kept Gore off the field so far in the preseason, the 34-year-old did reveal that the plan is for him to get some action in the third preseason game this week. There is no rush to put him on the field given that he has proven to be an effective option out of the backfield at this point of his career.

Gore has been one of the league’s most productive running backs throughout his NFL career where he has topped 1,000 rushing yards nine times in his career and is coming off another respectable year notching 961 rushing yards last season with the Indianapolis. This has pushed him to fifth all-time in that category with the chance to pass up Hall of Famer Curtis Martin in the 2018 campaign to move up to fourth as he trails by less than 100 yards.

His presence on the field could give the Dolphins a legitimate 1-2 punch out of the backfield with Gore and Kenyan Drake. The duo could give them one of the most formidable running game in the league that could help Miami find much success in 2018.
