The Miami Dolphins are caught in an uncertain situation as they attempt to prepare for an encounter with a new-look New England Patriots side. The offense will be unlike any other in the past as 2015 NFL MVP Cam Newton will now take over the reins from long-time quarterback Tom Brady.

Head coach Brian Flores shared his strategy to contain Newton heading into their opening game matchup on September 13:

“We just kind of refer to the mobile quarterback rules,” the Dolphins coach said. “We want to keep them in a pocket. Obviously, Cam is very explosive; he’s a very accomplished and established player in the league. He’s made a lot of plays with his legs, with his arm. We want to keep him in the pocket, we want to try to limit those plays. At the same time, he’s going to create them in one way or another, that’s kind of been his M.O. over the course of his career.”

Due to the cancellation of preseason games, Flores and the Dolphins won't have any idea on how the former Carolina Panther will lead Bill Belichick's offense. They will just have to be prepared for any situation that will come their way and cover as much ground as possible.

Cam Newton last played in Week 2 of the 2019 season and tallied a total of 572 passing yards on 89 attempts without a touchdown scored for the Panthers. The 2010 Heisman Trophy winner will look for ways to have a bounce-back campaign, this time with the defending AFC East champions.

Like the Dolphins, the rest of the league should already be scratching their heads thinking how they will take on the seemingly unknown Patriots side. The situation of Cam Newton in New England certainly adds another exciting story-line to follow in the upcoming NFL season.
