The Miami Dolphins selected quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He is now set to be the face of their franchise for a long time.

However, there is a bit of an issue to start it all off. Tagovailoa is still recovery from some injury problems. In turn, he'll enter the season less than 100 percent.

According to Safid Deen of the sun-sentinel.com, Miami head coach Brian Flores spoke out about the potential of Tagovailoa's status for their Week 1 game against the New England Patriots.

“Flores, speaking before Tuesday’s Dolphins practice, said Tagovailoa’s recovery will certainly be a factor when the team decides which players will be active and could potentially play when the season begins at New England on Sept. 13.

“That is definitely part of the conversation — for sure,” the Dolphins coach said of Tagovailoa, the team’s top pick in April’s draft.

“We’re at 10 months. It was a pretty serious injury. He looks good, though. … He’s healthy. He’s moving around to his right and to his left. But yes, that’s part of the conversation.””

Obviously, Tua Tagovailoa has been working back from a very serious hip injury. Not only did it require surgery, but there was a moment in time when people were wondering if he would have to retire from the sport before even getting to the NFL.

Instead, Tagovailoa started recovering nicely, then his draft stock rose again. The Dolphins ended up getting him with the fifth overall pick, setting him up as a cornerstone piece.

Flores makes it clear that the quarterback is healthy. That does not necessarily mean he is right where they want him to be though. The Dolphins will obviously want to be smart with Tagovailoa. No need to rush him and hurt the future because they want him to be ready now.

A lot of people are very excited about his potential. His injury progressing well has only added onto that excitement.

That being said, there now might be a reason to wait. It looks like Flores and the Dolphins are not completely sure if Tagovailoa will be available in Week 1 — holding off the highly-anticipated debut.
