The Miami Dolphins received their fair share of mixed reviews with their signing of quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. It appears head coach Brian Flores has a rather optimistic outlook on his future in Miami.

Fitzpatrick has been in the final stretch of his career for quite some time now. Flores said during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio that he is hopeful the veteran still has plenty left in the tank:

“He brings leadership, he brings intelligence, he brings toughness,” Flores said. “We’ve had a couple really good talks. Obviously, I coached against him and I just think he’s a really good player. I’m looking forward to watching him play. I think his best days are ahead.”

This is certainly an optimistic take from Flores. The prospect of a 36-year-old that has spent most of their career as a backup still having some room to improve seems a bit far-fetched. Regardless, it is clear that Flores is still enamored with what he brings to the table.

Although a sudden resurgence from Fitzpatrick may be highly unlikely, it is not impossible. He proved as much last season when he began the season as the starter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He subsequently managed to play at an MVP-caliber level in the following weeks. His stellar performances were undoubtedly one of the most pleasant surprises of the 2018 campaign. Flores is hoping that the veteran still has a bit of “Fitzmagic” left over to share with the Dolphins amid their current rebuild.
