The Miami Dolphins are looking to defeat the New York Jets twice in 2019 but they'll have to do so without DeVante Parker. According to Rich Cimini, Parker won't return versus the Jets due to being placed in concussion protocol.

Parker made his way to the locker room early in the game after taking a hit to the head. After undergoing some tests, it was determined that the team's No. 1 wide receiver wasn't going to be able to return to the field on Sunday.

With Parker out for the rest of the game, it's likely that Allen Hurns will see an expanded role in the passing attack. Besides Parker, Albert Wilson has also been ruled out for the remainder of the day. That leaves the Dolphins extremely thin at wide receiver versus the Jets.

The news of Parker being unable to finish the game is unfortunate for the Dolphins. The former first-round pick has had a resurgent year in Miami and is finally showing why he was selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

In Parker's first four seasons in the NFL, he averaged only 40 receptions, 554 yards, and two touchdowns per season. As for this year, the Louisville product is having a career year as he's hauled in 53 passes for 854 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games.

Before the season began, Miami signed Parker to a two-year, $10 million extension. The final year of the contract is considered to be a team option and it's likely that the Dolphins pick it up after his impressive campaign in 2019.
