The Miami Dolphins were inclined to place Tua Tagovailoa on the team's injury report this week and it has nothing to with his hip. The rookie quarterback missed practice on Wednesday due to an illness and his status for Week 4 is uncertain at the moment.

Of course, with an illness occurring during the COVID-19 pandemic, some may wonder if Tagovailoa's illness is related to the coronavirus. However, Dolphins coach Brian Flores stated on Wednesday that Tagovailoa's illness isn't connected with COVID-19.

“This is not a false positive,” Dolphins coach Brian Flores said Wednesday. “We’ve been through the protocols. We test every day. We’re confident saying it’s not COVID-related.”

The Dolphins coach meant to say that Tagovailoa's illness isn't a false negative, but the meaning behind his comments remain the same. At the least, the first-year quarterback isn't showing symptoms and has produced negative tests daily this week.

Seeing that a hip injury derailed his final season at Alabama, there are still concerns with his health in his first season in Miami. It was reported ahead of Week 1 that the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft was on the injury report for his hip.

This time around, Tagavailoa's appearance on the injury report isn't connected to his serious hip injury from last season. Still, it will be worth monitoring his progress from his illness as the Dolphins get ready to face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

With that being said, it is a positive sign that Tagovailoa's unknown illness isn't COVID-19 related, which would have caused more issues for the NFL and the Miami Dolphins.
